Anna's Story

Anna Marlene Westerkamp Mohr was born on November 9, 1939, on the family farm just outside of Peoria, Iowa. She was the first of four children born to John and Tena (Bandstra) Westerkamp.
As a child, she attended Peoria Christian Reformed Church and graduated from Peoria Christian Grade School. She enjoyed 4-H and devoted much of her childhood to farm life - her first job was picking corn on the family farm. In 1957, she graduated from Pella Christian High School. After high school, she attended nursing school in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she received her LPN degree and began working at Pine Rest Nursing Home. It was here that she met the love of her life, James Mohr.
After living in Grand Rapids where her 2 sons were born, the family moved to Akron, OH. From there they moved to West Virginia where Jim began a new business. Jim and Anne owned and successfully operated the Chem-Ray Corporation of Fairmont, WV.
Anne was a former member of the Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church where she was a devoted elder's wife, and a member of the Baptist Temple, all in Fairmont, WV. She was also a member of the Providence P.C.A. in Bradenton, FL. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club both in West Virginia and Florida.
Anna was an avid gardener who could make anything grow. She was a garden club member both in West Virginia and Florida. She belonged to a Traveler's Club, enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and riding her bicycle. She loved playing the piano at different churches and for singing at the Sarasota Bay Park in Bradenton, FL. She was a wonderful baker and loved sharing things that she made with others. Christ and her family were the centers of her life.
On April 27, 2016, Anna passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, at the age of 76 years. She is survived by her two sons, Scott Mohr and his wife Tina and Steve Mohr and his wife Missy; five grandchildren, Sean Mohr and his fiancé Holly Young, Cory Mohr, Bailey Mohr, Sydney Mohr, and Delaney Mohr all of Fairmont, WV; her sister Loretta Struik and husband Marvin of Agra, KS; sisters-in-law Nancy Westerkamp of Pella, IA, and Evelyn Mohr of Byron Center, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband James Willard Mohr, and her brothers Pete Westerkamp and Fred Westercamp.
Her funeral was held at the Baptist Temple in Fairmont, WV, on Monday, May 2, 2016. She was laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum in Fairmont, WV. Her family and friends will always cherish her love and devotion to them and to Jesus.
