Delores “Dee” Ann (Steenhoek) Warmink, was born September 2, 1940, in Pella, Iowa, to Richard and Regina Steenhoek. She was baptized September 29, 1940 in Iowa and confirmed July 12, 1981, at Zion Lutheran, Walburg, Texas. Dee obtained her Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing Degree from Calvin College and the Blodgett School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in Sioux Center, Iowa and at Goergetown Hospital where she retired in 2010. Dee was committed to her church and faith, enjoyed traveling and attending operas, and was always reading. She rarely visited without bringing or baking her incredible cookies, breads, and desserts. She believed adding sugar and butter to any dish was the most likely way to improve it. She was a dedicated sports fan in particular to her Hawkeyes and Cardinals. Most of all she enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. She was full of life and found the positive side of everybody and every situation. Dee passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at the age of 75. She leaves her beloved husband of 53 years, Gary; her daughter, Elaine Hansen and husband Chris of Atlanta, Georgia; her sons, Greg and wife Jennifer of Austin, Texas and Cory and wife Tara of Ft. Worth, Texas; her brother, Don Steenhoek and wife Joni, of Ft. Meyers, Florida. She also leaves seven beautiful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her dear siblings Kathy Bandstra and Paul preceded her in death. Pallbearers were: Alex Hansen, Lyndall Remmert, Don Steenhoek, Harry Marburger, Ron Bandstra, Jim Hale, Dale Snapper, and Don Hovde. Memorials may be given to Zion’s Music Fund or Zion’s Capital Campaign. Pastor John M. Davenport, Senior Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg, Texas officiated. Interment is located at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Walburg. Arrangements were by Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, Georgetown, Texas. Following the graveside service, family and friends were invited to the Fellowship Hall for a time of greeting and refreshment.
