Donald Gene Rozendaal was the second of six sons that were born to Albert & Cora (Van Gilst) Rozendaal. He was born at home in Lynnville, Iowa on September 14, 1938. Donald was a member of the first graduating class of Lynnville-Sully High School in Sully, Iowa in 1957. He was baptized and made profession of his faith at the First Reformed Church in Sully where he served as an Elder and Deacon.

After raising their children they were privileged to travel extensively to several countries. Don & Evelyn enjoyed going out to Lake Red Rock and also camping with friends. One of their highlights was taking their family on cruises for their 40th and 50th Anniversary and spending a couple weeks every winter in Florida for several years with friends. Don was a man of few words, but he devoutly loved God and his family.
