Kevin Lee Beyer, 58, of Ankeny, IA was called to heaven on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
Funeral services were held at 10 am on Saturday, April 30, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut St. in Ankeny.
Kevin was born on June 12, 1957 in Oskaloosa, IA, to Arie and Evelyn (Mathes) Beyer. He grew up on a farm near Otley, IA, graduated from Pella High School, and received Associate of Applied Science Degrees from Northwest Iowa Technical College in Electrical Technology and from North Dakota State School of Science in Electronic Technology. Following college, Kevin worked at GTE Labs in Elmhurst, Illinois. In 1980, Kevin returned to Iowa and worked for 36 years as an electronic engineer for the George A. Rolfes Company and its successor company, Boone Cable Works & Electronics. He also established Beyer Properties to own and manage rental property.
Kevin was united in marriage to Kathryn Mohr on July 7, 1990, at Grace United Church of Christ in Wilton, Iowa. They were blessed with a son, Kyle, and a daughter, Kayla. Kevin was a loving husband for over 25 years and an amazing dad.
Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to see the beauty of nature, playing ping pong, making kids smile, and ushering at church. He had an easy going, kind, and gracious spirit.
Kevin will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy Beyer, son, Kyle Beyer and daughter, Kayla Beyer of Ankeny, IA; mother, Evelyn Beyer of Pella, IA; sister, Ilene Beyer of Pella, IA; brothers Glen (Mary Lynne) Beyer and Harvey (Teresa) Beyer of Otley, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Arie Beyer.
