Wilma Ann Van Der Hart, age 64 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the church. Wilma Ann Van Der Hart, the daughter of Carl and Hendrika (De Jong) Van Donselaar, was born on July 31, 1952, in Oskaloosa. In her early years, Wilma attended one year of Black Oak Country School, then Leighton Elementary until fifth grade. She graduated from Pella Community Schools in 1970. She then became employed at Pella Corporation. She was baptized in the Leighton Christian Reformed Church and later professed her faith in Christ at the age of 20. On August 3, 1973, Wilma was united in marriage to Larry Dean Van Der Hart at the Leighton Christian Reformed Church. In June of 1975, they moved to Larry's parents farm, where she helped as a farm wife. To this union four sons were born: Brian, Bradley, Greg and Kyle. Wilma was a stay at home devoted mother when her children arrived. She later would work part time at Clearview Nursing Home, Pella Regional Hospital and then did cleaning service for several customers until the end. Wilma was a faithful member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church where she taught Story Hour for many years, helped with Busy Bee's and taught many years of Sunday School. She enjoyed submitting articles and writing for the church newsletter and did Christian Ministry outside the church. She is characterized by her love for the Gospel and her Lord, a Bible teacher at heart. She loved her family, enjoyed her mother-in-law's teaching of quilt making and greatly appreciated the Christian teaching by her mother. She thoroughly enjoyed Bible study and loved listening to hymns.
In June of 2014, she was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a form of leukemia. From then on she survived on donor blood, requiring many blood infusions. On July of 2015, it progressed to acute leukemia, which she later died from.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 43 years; her sons their spouses and children, Brian and Jennifer and sons Evan and Noah of Bondurant, Brad and Jennifer and sons Cody, Cade and Coen of Monroe, Greg and Sarah and daughter Stella of Prairie City and Kyle and Courtney of Monroe. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Wilma is survived by sisters, Norma DeVries and husband Bob of Monroe, Marie Vander Wert and husband Jerry of Pella, Jan De Zwarte and husband Larry of Attica, and two brothers, John Van Donselaar and wife Doris of Pella and James Van Donselaar and wife Shelia of Walker, Michigan. Her mother-in-law, Freda Van Der Hart of Newton and sister-in-law, Elaine Struik and husband Verlan of Leighton and several nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her praents; a sister, Ruth Van Donselaar, and her father-in-law, Harold L. Van Der Hart.
