Carolyn Ann Zickel
June 13, 1943 - January 1, 2017
Carolyn Ann Zickel was born June 13, 1943 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of Nick and Marie (Vander Beek) Geurts.
She was raised on a farm near Pella and graduated from Pella High School. Following graduation, Carolyn worked at an insurance company in Des Moines and later at Community National Bank in Knoxville. On October 13, 1962 Carolyn was united in marriage to Terry Zickel. The couple made their home on a farm east of Knoxville. Carolyn was a farm wife and cleaned houses for several Knoxville families.
Carolyn passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Cottages, in Pella, at the age of 73 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Doug and her husband, Terry in 2015.
Those left to cherish Carolyn's memory include her daughter, Paula (Mitch) Nelson and their family: Zach (Kaycie), Mackenzie and Ashlyn of Vancouver, Washington; son, Dan (Terri Collins) Zickel and their family: Lacee (Cody) Ambers and Alyssa of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Sherry VanderLinden of Lincoln, Nebraska; three nieces and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Carolyn Zickel, age 73 of Knoxville, were held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Covenant Church, with Swann Juline Officiating.
Interment at Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn's memory may be made to the Dementia Society of America.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
