Glen Chapman

February 5, 1959 - April 12, 2020

Glen Chapman

Glen Ray Chapman was the sixth of ten children, born February 5, 1959, to Ivan and Carolyn (Klein) Chapman, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Glen attended North Mahaska School in New Sharon, and was a 1977 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School. As a young boy he attended the Lower Grove Church and he enjoyed his first job junking with Earl Boyd. He started working at Rolscreen (now known as Pella Corporation) the day after he graduated from high school. He worked various positions there, making lots of friends up until retirement 41 years later.
On December 2, 1983, he was united in marriage to Terri Lautenbach in Pella. To this union, they were blessed with two children: Amanda and Travis.
Glen enjoyed listening to music and was always the man behind the camera; capturing memories on tape. His favorite hobbies were playing with his grandchildren, mowing, gardening, woodworking, and tinkering in his shop. Prior to grandchildren, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing with his son and family members. He loved to be surrounded by his family and his dogs. He will be most remembered by his infectious laugh and smile.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Terri, their two children and four grandchildren: Amanda and Sean Panknen of Pella, and their children: Jonathan and Landon; and Travis and Karissa Chapman of Sully, and their children: Aiden and Brooklyn.
He is also survived by his mother Carolyn Chapman of Pella; his mother-in-law JoAnn Lautenbach of Pella, his siblings: Mike and Jan Chapman of Pella, Sandra and Jerry Aalbers of Pella, Leona and Ken Stursma of Pella, Debbie and Brad Lester of Pella, Bonnie and Ron Pierson of Pella, Lavon and Delmar Brouwer of Monroe, Bernice and Lavern Starkey of Pella, Mary Lou and Greg Stump of Pella, and Ruth Ann and Michael Van Steenwyk of Pella; brother-in-law Larry Joe and Jody Lautenbach; and many nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his father Ivan Chapman, his father-in-law Larry Lautenbach, and several aunts and uncles.
A family graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, April 17, at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Family must stay in your car at the cemetery. The service will be live-streamed from the Garden Chapel Facebook page. A public memorial service will be held at a later date after the current health situation clears. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella or the Blank Children's Cancer Center in Des Moines.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline
