Joan Felton
January 10, 1944 - December 25, 2019
Joan K. (Van Den Baard) Felton, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at the Pella Comfort House. She was born January 10, 1944, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Mary Ruth and Cornelius Van Den Baard.
Joni was a 1962 graduate of Pella High School. She married Nelson Van Hulzen in January 1962. Out of all the places she worked, she enjoyed running a flag pole business with her brother. She finished her working career at Subway. Joni truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; riding horses, watching and attending NASCAR races, playing games with family, hanging out with the girls, and working. Joni's biggest pleasure in life was attending the Iowa State Fair.
She is survived by her three children and ten grandchildren. Brad and Judi Van Hulzen of Pella, and their children: Garrett and Sarah. Lisa Sharp-Van Hulzen and her children: Dallas, Marissa Sharp and Zach Fletcher. Koran Garr of Des Moines and her children: Kaela Garr, Kyler and Kylena Salazar, Kadence and Kaelisa Garr. She is also survived by her siblings: Norman Van Den Baard, Diana Burkin and Peggy Van Den Baard. Joni leaves her companion dog Bobby Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Ruth and Cornelius Van Den Baard, her sister Shirley Ward, and her son-in-law Everett "Shy" Garr.
There will be a Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, January 12, at The House of Faith, 215 E. University, in Pella. Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
